ABOUT

On Saturday 5th of May, This Is DIY, a not for profit collective of musicians, promoters, photographers and artists, are launching a 14 week programme showcasing some of the best alternative underground acts from London and beyond. The programme, which forms part of the wider ‘V22 Summer Club’ arts festival at the V22 Workspace in Bermondsey, will run weekly events featuring over thirty of the most exciting bands to have graced Londons blossoming DIY circuit over the last few years.

Taking their inspiration from the ‘do it yourself’ attitude of US labels Dischord and SST, and with a largely alternative edge, the collective have teamed up to fund and construct an 80 capacity venue specifically for the project. The time limited space will be graced by a diverse mix of live acts and DJs including: Joeyfat, Hey Collosus, Silent Front, Nitkowski, Shapes, Bastions and Ladyscraper, with highlights including a special Jubilee all dayer on the 4th of June.  The venue will also host film screenings, readings, record distribution, poster artwork and other events relating to the ethos of ‘DIY’.

The focus of the project is non-corporate, inclusive and above all community minded. Entry fees and drink prices will be kept to a minimum with all proceeds going towards the musicians playing and the funding of the venue.
